The Mermaid St Ives

The Mermaid St Ives, Cornwall is one of the only restaurants that has remained true to its roots in all the 20 plus years I have going.  The Mermaid has a wonderful atmosphere inside with old St Ives pictures and memorabilia donning the walls around you with a low lighting and wooden beams running the lengths of the ceiling it is small, quaint and romantic.

The Mermaid St Ives is perfect whether you are out for lunch or an evening meal from a table for two to a family outing.  They have an al a carte menu available and sometimes do early bird specials.  In recent years they have done a fantastic lunch menu, which is lunch for two and a glass of red or white for £20, a bargain!

I have been to the Mermaid St Ives for both lunch and evening meal and tried both menu’s and don’t have a bad word to say about either. Whether it is surf or turf you are after the Mermaid has it available from the finest cuts to the best fresh local caught seafood.  They often have delicious specials with certain catches of the day or one of dishes.  Often some specials can have a Mediterranean feel too which is a nice change.  The menu has a bit of depth from simple favourites to more complex dishes.  All are cooked wonderfully and service is with a smile and a welcome.

The Mermaid won’t break the bank either and is great value for money, I definitely recommend this for anyone who is out and about for lunch.  But as always in St Ives, don’t forget to book!
